Tottenham fans were left confused and incensed after Just Stop Oil made a joke about their lack of trophies out of the blue.

The north London club has become the latest to feel the sting from Just Stop Oil - but no one could have seen the way it came coming.

After making a plea on social media for donations, one X user replied with a gif depicting the number zero.

The X user's display picture showed a version of the Tottenham club badge and the Just Stop Oil X page did not hold back.

Reposting the reply on their own page, Just Stop Oil replied with the caption: "Trophies won by Spurs in last decade."

It has left several Spurs fans scratching their heads in bemusement - but safe to say they are not happy.

One fan replied: "Nah I was on your side lads, now I’m going to lease a Range Rover, hope you’re happy."

Another said: "Things you've actually achieved. 0."

While a third wrote: "Literally setting fire to my house now to p*** them off."

Just Stop Oil have made themselves widely known across the nation with their daring publicity stunts including laying in front of traffic and forcing 4,000 flights to be grounded at Heathrow.

And they have even managed to entangle themselves in football in March 2022 when one protester broke onto the pitch during a Premier League match between Everton and Newcastle.

Louis McKechnie stopped play when he ran on the pitch and tied himself to the goalpost at Goodison Park and he was later found guilty of aggravated trespassing.

And not just football has been affected when one protestor broke onto Lord's pitch last summer during The Ashes with England cricketer Jonny Bairstow carrying him off.

The snooker was also forced to a stop when protesters managed to climb on a table at the Crucible and throw orange powder on it at the World Snooker Championship.

Just Stop Oil are a protest group that uses non-violent direct action to force the government to listen to their action plan.

They want all usage of fossil fuel outlawed by 2030 and more funding for renewable energy sources.
