West Brom striker on the radar of a second Premier League club

The Daily Star has claimed that Premier League side Everton are also interested in West Brom’s striker Salomon Rondon, who currently is starring on loan at Newcastle United.

Everton have joined fellow Premier League side Newcastle United in being interested in a permanent deal for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, the Daily Star has claimed.

Rondon’s career at West Brom seems set to come to an end at the end of this season, regardless of whether or not the club remains in the Championship or win promotion back to the Premier League. But, if the Baggies win promotion, buying clubs will have to pay more than the £16 million release clause which is in place if the club remains in the second tier of English football.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez and Rondon are both keen to make the Venezuelan’s loan move permanent this summer. However, with Toon owner Mike Ashley keen to bring in younger players, Benitez could face a battle to sign 29-year-old Rondon permanently.

The striker has been in impressive form for Newcastle throughout this season, impressing fans with his passion and determination. He has netted 10 goals since his arrival at St James’ Park, providing five assists along the way as well.

It was reported here on The72 last month that Rondon’s future at the Hawthorns was up in the air, and with a number of sides reportedly registering an interest in signing him on a permanent basis, he could bring an end to his time with the Baggies this summer.
